Chatlog 12th April 2009: Not All That it Seems

Hladson Kappler munches away on a bowl of Ferengi Flakes
CYLONXD Slade: Permission to come Aboard?
Jaye Jeffries shakes his head
Jaye Jeffries: of course
Krahazik Zaytsev: evening
Jaye Jeffries: Mr Zaytsev ^^
Hladson Kappler waves between bites of his cereal
Jaye Jeffries taps the table menu, deciding if he wants to order anything. He decides not to, the site of Kappler's food having destroyed his appetite
Takira Sukra sips her tea and reviews some of her research
Hladson Kappler looks over a padd with the duty roster on it
CYLONXD Slade walks through into the room with a grim Vulcan expression
CYLONXD Slade: Greetings Captain, Commander *vulcan nod*
Jaye Jeffries: Welcome back Mr Slade, join us for some evening snacks
Culama Foxclaw: good to see every one maam sir
Hladson Kappler waves
CYLONXD Slade nods "I wouldn't mind"
Mimps Masala: good evening Mr Foxclaw
Culama Foxclaw: i hope nothing unpleasant has brought you to sick bay
CYLONXD Slade takes a thoughtful Vulcan breathe in "It feels good to be away from the Station and back in Space again"
Hladson Kappler: I hear you. I'm happiest when traveling at warp speeds
Culama Foxclaw: hmm need a check up?
Jaye Jeffries nods "DS9 provides a nice location for R&R, but I would hate to be placed there"
CYLONXD Slade smirks "For you that Station is R&R, for me it's non-stop work"
Unadecal Arado: nono, just a quick lie down... it was an exhausting shore leave
Culama Foxclaw: yes shore leave will do that

Culama Foxclaw: me medical confrence with my grandmother
CYLONXD Slade: Well - from what i read - your people have recovered from the Cardassion occupation faster than anyone could of anticipated, even matching that of the post-world war attempt in Earth's history
Hladson Kappler: After the stress of the near Cardassian attack, yes
Unadecal Arado: sounds interesting
Culama Foxclaw: she drags me to them saying that if Foxclaw is on the roster that means we both have to suffer
Unadecal Arado: hehe, wise ol woman ㋡
Hladson Kappler: Thanks, We strive to be independant. It means not being restricted by other people's oppinions of us.
CYLONXD Slade nods
Culama Foxclaw: haha or mean
Culama Foxclaw: depends on how you look at it
Mimps Masala: my leave was interesting too, Bajor is a beautiful planet when you have a local to show you the best sites
Unadecal Arado: indeed... if you excuse me, I shall report to my station. Good to see you
Culama Foxclaw: you to good day sir
Krahazik Zaytsev: Hmm, I remaind aboard ship.
Hladson Kappler: I spent time with my brother's family on Bajor. It's nice having a nephew to play around with, and they are expecting a little girl in a month
CYLONXD Slade: After reading the incident regarding the Changling, i thought it the best oppertunity to escape my office and reclame the reason i joined Starfleet
Unadecal Arado: greetings everyone
Hladson Kappler waves
Jaye Jeffries nods towards Arado as he enters the lounge
Mimps Masala: thats great Hlad, you need to get away from the ship from time to time and do 'normal' stuff occasionally
CYLONXD Slade vulcan nods "greetings"
Hladson Kappler: ah, but as I was saying to Mr. Slade earlier, I'm happiest at warp speeds
Culama Foxclaw makes his way to the bar for a pina colada
Jaye Jeffries: same here, as long as they warp speeds don't involve 'turbulence'
Mimps Masala nods and grins "I know exactly what you mean there Hlad"
RP Chatter: In-Character Name set to 'Bridge Crew'
Hladson Kappler: one bumpy ride and that's all you remember...
Unadecal Arado: you are so right
Jaye Jeffries comm badge beeps. Jeffries taps his badge, accepting the intraship communication
Culama Foxclaw takes his colada to sick bay with him
Culama Foxclaw: excuse me
Bridge Crew: Major, we're receiving a distress call.
Jaye Jeffries looks up, addressing the empty air "origin?"
Mimps Masala watches the nurse leave with the drink and frowns a little then shrugs and returns her attention to the others in the room
Bridge Crew: Sir, it appears to be coming from a ship in the Gamma Quadrant, just a small distance the other side of the wormhole. Can't pinpoint the signature type.
Jaye Jeffries nods "I'll be there shortly, Jeffries out"
Jaye Jeffries looks around at the bridge crew "It looks as though duty calls" and glances briefly at Foulsbane, still distrusting of his knowledge of future events
Takira Sukra finishes up the paragraph on her research paper in preparation to be called to the bridge
Jaye Jeffries leaves the mess hall
Wolfton Foulsbane stands off to the side, avoiding ey contact with any of the crewmembers.
Unadecal Arado shifts uneasily from foot to foot, a bit annoyed to have to dive in the deep end so soon after shore leave
Takira Sukra takes one last sip of her tea and then leaves the room
Mimps Masala stands and stretches then walks to the bridge
Unadecal Arado: Masala, we need to report tpo stations
Last time on USC Relliketh: We escorted a Cardassian with information for Vedic Barial on DS9, only to be attacked by Cardassian Warships. We made it to DS9 and there was a standoff between the station and the Cardassians. The Standoff was broken after Starfleet ships entered the sector.
Culama Foxclaw finishe the frosty drink while reviewing the doctors active files
Jaye Jeffries taps his console "Mr Slade, any further information on the distress call?" then looks towards helm "set course for the origin of the signal"
Krahazik Zaytsev: aye sir
Culama Foxclaw notes the quiet of sickbay
Krahazik Zaytsev locks in the signal location and plots a course.
Krahazik Zaytsev: course laid ijn and ploted sir
Jaye Jeffries rubs his leg, thinking distractedly on some personnel matter. No Dr Lardner today, he hoped that Nurse Foxclaw was able to fill her shoes, he had great hope in his abilities.
Jaye Jeffries: Engage when ready, warp 6
Krahazik Zaytsev activaets the course at warp 9
CYLONXD Slade taps console and glares at the information that pours onto his screen "It's very unstable...this may be cause by the transaction of travelling from one end of the galaxy to the other..."
Krahazik Zaytsev make that warp 6
Takira Sukra quickly reviews ships crew roster
Jaye Jeffries thinks more on personnel matters. He still hadn't heard back from chief Kappler on his offer to make him 1st officer, it only made sense in light of the empty chair which had too long sat on the Major's right hand side for these past months.
Jaye Jeffries: *looks towards Slade as he gives this report "interesting hypothesis Mr Slade, perhaps we can gain more information?"
Wolfton Foulsbane looks around at the empty stations and wonders where the rest of the bridge crew could be.
Hladson Kappler: Mr. Foulsbane, we could use someone at Tactical
Wolfton Foulsbane: Oh? Sure.
Wolfton Foulsbane: I'm on it, Sir.
CYLONXD Slade turns slightly to face the Major "Working on it - i should be able to gather more data as we gain proximity to the wormhole"
Jaye Jeffries nods "it appears our security chief has been caught up in some security matters, best to have somebody manning this station in the mean time"
Wolfton Foulsbane initiates diagnostics from the Tactical console.
Krahazik Zaytsev: Wormhole in 2 minutes
Krahazik Zaytsev drops to impulse for worm hole entry.
Jaye Jeffries: "Coordinate with the science officers Mr Slade, I think their expertise will be beneficial in this instance"
CYLONXD Slade looks towards the view screen feeling a slight exitement to be away from the Station however hides these emotions
Culama Foxclaw takes the doctor's chair apprehencive to take her place even temporaraly
Hladson Kappler thinks about how well Maestro did as first officer. Should he accept this new position. What would happen in Engineering without him
CYLONXD Slade nods "Science - i'm rerouting my scans to your Console"
Radar: Takira Sukra has entered chat range.
Jaye Jeffries stares at the viewscreen as the Relliketh approaches the celestial temple. Regardless of how the SF officers labelled it a 'wormhole', it always awed jeffries to see the temple open as they approached, providing access to the Gamma quadrant
Krahazik Zaytsev expertly slides the ship into a textbook entry pattern.
Mimps Masala: Thank you Slade, I will run them through a few filters and see it we can get a bit more out of the data that may tell us something more
Hladson Kappler monitors all ship's systems
Wolfton Foulsbane sends out a broadcast to all friendly probes on the other side, requesting feedback of all vessel activity in the last week.
Jaye Jeffries: "I would like to say that this is a standard mission - however we *are* entering the Gamma Quadrant. Mr Foulsbane, please be at the ready should we encounter any hostile craft." Jeffries thinks on the countless species yet to be discovered in this quadrant
Wolfton Foulsbane: Aye, Sir.
CYLONXD Slade thinks to himself "No-more hostile than this quadrant"
Jaye Jeffries: *looks back toward Masala and Arado, noticing them collaborate on some information on their lcars screen "If we could identify the ship, it would be a great help - anything you can do?"
Wolfton Foulsbane: me sees that the diagnostics on weapons and shields are complete and that all systems are in optimal condition.
Unadecal Arado looks slightly to his right, glad to have a chance to observe his colleague "I developed a reverse quantum metric algorithm that may help clean the signal a little under these circumstances"
Krahazik Zaytsev slides the ship out of the wormhole and jumbs to warp instantly giving the stars just a moment before they are blured into the lines of warp travel.
Krahazik Zaytsev: We have arirved in the gamma quadant sir.
Mimps Masala studies the incoming data on her screen "Major this is not any signature that I recognise, we will need to analyse it a bit more"
Jaye Jeffries: *strokes his chair console lightly, thinking that he noticed the change in speed as the Relliketh jumped to warp. Impossible, however, it must simply have been his imagination.
Jaye Jeffries: *nods as Masala provides this report
CYLONXD Slade taps Console "The Ship is not much Larger than ourselfs, seems to be of a level of Technology Equal to our-own"
Wolfton Foulsbane sends a signal to the science station requesting a peak at their data for tactical readiness.
Unadecal Arado leans slightly into his female colleague, touching her hand just so, as he taps and whispers "perhaps, if you increase the amplitude filter so and establish a slightly lower baseline..."
Jaye Jeffries taps his console, eager to approach the ship in distress, and to discover what the problem is
CYLONXD Slade hears this "Humans...even in the worst possible places, they always seem time to reproduce"
Hladson Kappler looks over the scan readings, something about it disturbs him, but he can't quite place it
Krahazik Zaytsev checks the eta to signal intercept on his nave screen.
Radar: Culama Foxclaw has entered chat range.
Mimps Masala taps a few keys and nods "yes that helps" raises her head and addresses the captain "Major the signature looks like a Cardassian ships of some sort, the signals a very scrambled I'm guessing they are trying to hide from something"
Jaye Jeffries: *looks towards Zaytsev "ETA Mr Zaytsev?"
Wolfton Foulsbane initiates a longe range sensor sweep for other vessels in the area.
Culama Foxclaw steps on to the bridg
Krahazik Zaytsev: Hard to pin down sir. It looks like we will be near the point of the signal in approximatly 5 minuts.
Jaye Jeffries: *nods at this information "A Cardassian ship....."
Hladson Kappler: I thought the energy patterns looked familiar
CYLONXD Slade ponders in his mind "What the hell are the Cardassions doing her...most illogical"
Unadecal Arado: Sir, in the Doctor's absence, perhaps Mr Foxclaw could take the Medical station and begin a medical assessment of the ship's situation?
Krahazik Zaytsev drops the ship to impulse as we near the point of the distress signal.
Mimps Masala: yes Hlad, once we ironed out the random peaks in the signature it definately looks Cardassian
Krahazik Zaytsev: We have arrived sir.
Culama Foxclaw: um... oh of course
Hladson Kappler: Three of their ships went through the wormhole after the standoff at DS9
Jaye Jeffries: *walks towards the Ops officer "Hail the ship mr Slade" then looks back towards Masala "Agreed, have the Doctor...that is, Nurse Foxclaw stand by in case of casualties"
CYLONXD Slade glares at Console then initiates hailing "No...responce"
Unadecal Arado looks again at the readings, uneasy at what he sees, but unable to pinpoint the reason
Culama Foxclaw contacts sick bay "all staff prepare for potential casuelties"
Jaye Jeffries: "try again Mr Slade, perhaps they are having difficulty with their comms"
Krahazik Zaytsev scans the ship.
CYLONXD Slade nods then continues to tap his Console
Hladson Kappler thinks "They went through all that trouble to push some ships into the Gamma Quadrant and now they need out help."
Hladson Kappler: our*
Wolfton Foulsbane request scans for weapons, personnel, and combat damage to the Cardassian ship.
Communications Console: Hailing ship
CYLONXD Slade nods in annoyance "I got a responce but...it's static"
Jaye Jeffries: *waits patiently, hoping to get a commanding officer on the viewscreen
Jaye Jeffries: *nods
Unadecal Arado: we don't know the reason for their being here, and while Cardassians may not be our choice of neighbour, we need to know what they are up to
CYLONXD Slade growls slightly.."Now..they are hailing us.."
Krahazik Zaytsev brings the ship to a stop severha hundred meters from the other ship.
Culama Foxclaw: bigins to review the the medical sensor readings
Jaye Jeffries: "Mr Foulsbane, try to determine how/if they are damaged"
Wolfton Foulsbane: Aye, Sir. I'm sorting through the readings now.
Jaye Jeffries: "onscreen Mr Slade"
CYLONXD Slade looks towards the Major, turning in his seat "this may be typical Cardassion tricks"
Krahazik Zaytsev primes the reverse engines and brings combat control panel up and at standby
Jaye Jeffries: *nods "that's true - only one way to find out"
CYLONXD Slade reroutes Communications to main screen
Hladson Kappler double checks all defensive subsystems are at fully ready for anything
Communications Console: Onscreen
Krahazik Zaytsev plots several evasive meneuvers incase of a suprise attack.
CYLONXD Slade: On screen, sir
Wolfton Foulsbane: Sir it appears that the ship has been disabled by an internal force, rather than an attack.
Wolfton Foulsbane: The hull shows no blast damage.
Jaye Jeffries: *addresses the Cardassian on the sidescreen "This is the Relliketh, we are responding to your distress call - what seems to be the problem?" jeffries nods at Foulsbane as he gives this report
Culama Foxclaw: yes the life signs are spread out and eratic
Jaye Jeffries: *The Cardassian hesitates, looking uncertain as he realises a Bajoran ship has responded, but before he gets the chance to respond the transmission fades to static and terminates abruptly*
Unadecal Arado whispers a chuckle "I bet we are the last ship they expected to respond to their distress signal"
CYLONXD Slade taps Console "Sorry sir, we lost them"
Jaye Jeffries: "damn"
Wolfton Foulsbane: Sir, I'm reading massive internal power fluctuations on the ship, but it doesn't seem to be weapons fire.
Bridge;P13: Xannder Schumann is using that.
Jaye Jeffries: *thinks
Mimps Masala looks up from her console "Mr Foxclaw are all the life signs Cardassian?"
Hladson Kappler: Sir I'm reading severe damage to their power grid. If they don't fix it their life support will fail within the hour
CYLONXD Slade allows his partly human emotions to take over in his mind, he feels slightly worried and uneasy about the situation
Culama Foxclaw: let me take a closer look
Jaye Jeffries: *considers the advantages and disadvantages - to beam over with an away team to render assistance, or to beam aboard the Cardassian crew
Krahazik Zaytsev remains calm and unemotional.
Jaye Jeffries: *decides it would be politically worse to beam a bunch of Cardassian's onboard
Krahazik Zaytsev brings up the engineering report and looks over the structural and systems scanns.
Culama Foxclaw: at the moment i can't tell spesifics about the life signs
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir, cargo bay 3 is empty.
Jaye Jeffries: "Chief, I want you to take an away team" Jeffries considers the best crew for this particular mission
Jaye Jeffries: "Foulsbane..."
Hladson Kappler: aye sir
Wolfton Foulsbane: Yes Sir?
Jaye Jeffries: "Foxclaw, in case we need to render medical assistance"
Jaye Jeffries: "Masala"
Culama Foxclaw: of course let me get some supplies
Culama Foxclaw leaves for sick bay
Jaye Jeffries: "and Zaytsev, we may need more than one egnineer over there"
Krahazik Zaytsev: Aya sir
Hladson Kappler: okay away team to the transporter
Mimps Masala points to some data on her screen, "these signs are very erratic, almost to the point of indicating something non-cardassian, I was just wondering if there was something else there?"
Krahazik Zaytsev calles up a replacement helmsman and secures controls.
Wolfton Foulsbane follows Foxclaw off the bridge to assist with carrying supplies, and to draw a phaser.
Culama Foxclaw: ah thank you mr Foulsbane
Jaye Jeffries: ((Here's the deal, we will all beam to the away team location. Those of us not on the away team, will stand on the roof and text RP))
Unadecal Arado: I saw them... I was wondering that too... and the readings seem to be tied to their power and propulsion grid
Culama Foxclaw: we had better get to the transporter room
Wolfton Foulsbane: holster
Krahazik Zaytsev stands at attention.
Jaye Jeffries: "non cardassian?"
CYLONXD Slade walks over to another Console "Away Team, i'll moniter you from here and advise"
Mimps Masala nods "aye, hard to know what it is, it could just be a glitch in the signal"
Culama Foxclaw: yes i hate to say that i missed it but it would appear that way sir
Wolfton Foulsbane: holster
Jaye Jeffries: "You'll need to investigate once you'r eover there. Report in frequently"
Jaye Jeffries: *nods with finality
Mimps Masala: aye sir

Hladson Kappler looks around as he materializes
Krahazik Zaytsev materializes then looks around with a calm tactical sweep.
Hladson Kappler: I was expecting flickering lights
Krahazik Zaytsev examines console.
Hladson Kappler scans the systems
Jaye Jeffries: *returns to the bridge, looking around at the remaining staff, Slade, Arado, Sukra
Hladson Kappler: I'm not reading power disruptions
Krahazik Zaytsev: this console would appear to be functioning normally
CYLONXD Slade taps Console "They're onboard sir....no Cardassion activity nearby"
Hladson Kappler: any signs of problems here?
Krahazik Zaytsev examines weapon systems
Takira Sukra: *Major, shouldn't we send out communications to alert any nearby Cardassians that they have a ship that needs their assistance?*
Wolfton Foulsbane taps his commbadge. I made it to the bridge. Its completely unoccupied.
Culama Foxclaw taps bage " sir i was materialized in another part of the ship"
Jaye Jeffries: *nods to Mr Slade "I want a report from the team as soon as they find out what is going on over there. I don't treasure having half of our bridge staff on a Cardassian vessel"
Krahazik Zaytsev: no one in the office or down below either sir
Hladson Kappler: ::Comms:: Kappler to Relliketh
Krahazik Zaytsev: engineering is clear
Culama Foxclaw: ah good to see you found me
Wolfton Foulsbane: So where is everyone?
Jaye Jeffries: *looks towards Sukra "Not for the moment counsellor, I appreciate your following protocol however I think in this instance...." Look towards the comms panel
Hladson Kappler: ::We are detecting no damage and no crew
Krahazik Zaytsev: sir this could be a trap
Hladson Kappler: ::There doesn't seem to be anything wrong
Wolfton Foulsbane: I'll try to get information from their tactical ogs.
Wolfton Foulsbane: *logs
Hladson Kappler: check the comms, see if a distress was sent from this ship
Krahazik Zaytsev: I will check the engineering logs
Culama Foxclaw: i will continue to look for survivors
Jaye Jeffries: *looks with concern at his counsellor, wondering what she thinks of the situation, then addresses Kappler through the comms "I don't like this chief. Assess the situation, see if you can find anything, if not...we are pulling you out of there. I don't like the smell of this"
Hladson Kappler: ::Kappler to Relliketh, please do you read me?
Krahazik Zaytsev begins tapping commands in the engineering console in an attempt to call up the ships engineering logs.
Wolfton Foulsbane taps the terminal on the wall, but finds that the tactical logs have been completely wiped.
Krahazik Zaytsev finds all engineering data wiped.
Hladson Kappler: I have a bad feeling about this
Krahazik Zaytsev is a bit alarmed.
Wolfton Foulsbane: Chief, its like this ship never sailed?
Mimps Masala studies her tricorder and frowns "these readings are all wrong, something is not right here"
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir the engineering logs are gone.
Hladson Kappler: check the weapons down below
Krahazik Zaytsev: All data from the computer core has been wiped.
Hladson Kappler: see if they are anything but shells
Krahazik Zaytsev checks weapons and finds just shells
Wolfton Foulsbane: I mean, the tactical subsystems don't even have a dictionary of common commands.
Krahazik Zaytsev taps com badge, Zaytsev to Kappler
Hladson Kappler: after that let's head back to the transporter room and get out of here
Hladson Kappler: Go ahead Zaytsev
Krahazik Zaytsev: The weapons are all dummies, just shells. Same with the weapon systems.
Jaye Jeffries: *taps his chair console, feeling slightly anxious, then looks towards Sukra "What's your assessment counsellor? Could this be a trap?"
Wolfton Foulsbane: Aye, Chief. Moving.
Mimps Masala: "Hlad look at this " points to tricorder "look at these readings "
Hladson Kappler looks
Wolfton Foulsbane: Almost certainly, Sir.
Culama Foxclaw sir i am afraid i need a moment to find my way back
Takira Sukra: It is possible sir
Mimps Masala: these power signatures are definitely not Cardassian
Hladson Kappler: I agree with that

Unadecal Arado: "Sir, I am refining my analysis of the original data with telemetry from Masala's tricorder... their power grid seems to be causing the disturbances... and it is definitely not Cardassian in origin
Hladson Kappler: this is a trap if ever I saw one
Hladson Kappler: to the transporter room
Mimps Masala nods "yes, I have a bad feeling about this too"
Krahazik Zaytsev: mam
Hladson Kappler: where's Culama?
Wolfton Foulsbane: I'll go.
Krahazik Zaytsev: He was in Engineering
Takira Sukra: Though Cardassian traps tend to be a bit more brutal and direct. This doesn't appear to be either
Hladson Kappler tries the comms again
Wolfton Foulsbane: Are you okay?
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sirs we are vacating the vesel.
Hladson Kappler: Kappler to Relliketh please respond
Culama Foxclaw taps badge "sir i cant fing any life signs they appear a disapear
Culama Foxclaw: yes thank you for finding my
Krahazik Zaytsev: There is no one aboard this ship sir. We must leave.
Jaye Jeffries: *nods "I agree, this isn't a typical Cardassian approach. I'm not sure if this conclusion worries me more....or less. But still, I want to know what's going on over there" hears the comms come to life, though with much static "Relliketh here chief, we're barely reading you"
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir this way
Culama Foxclaw: this place creeps me out
Hladson Kappler: :: finally, This ship is not Cardassian, and it's not in distress. We request imediate transport
Wolfton Foulsbane taps his commbadge. Its not an unheard of tactic to use a dummy vessel to lure an enemy in and simply observe protocols.
Culama Foxclaw: its cold dont even need telepathy to know that
Jaye Jeffries: *looks toward Slade "Beam them out directly Mr Slade"
Krahazik Zaytsev: I found the doctor sir.
Hladson Kappler: good, I was worried for a moment
Culama Foxclaw: sorry i was chasing ...ghosts
Hladson Kappler waits for the transporter
Krahazik Zaytsev stands at attention.
Hladson Kappler: ::Any time now sir...
Jaye Jeffries: "Away team, we're having some difficulties getting a lock...stand by"
Unadecal Arado: Sir, I am not sure if this is a Cardassian ship trying to disguise itself as something else or something else trying to pass as Cardassian... and these readings are familiar, but can't quite place them
Mimps Masala: ghosts Mr Foxclaw?
Krahazik Zaytsev waits for the beamout.
Jaye Jeffries: *thinks on Arado's report, and scratches his chin distractedly "See if you can identify it Mr Arado, it might prove helpful"
Culama Foxclaw: the life signs would appear on my scan but disipate as if they couldn't make up their mind
Hladson Kappler: Mr. Zaytsev, can you see if there is any way to boost our signal using this transporter?
Krahazik Zaytsev: I will try sir.
Jaye Jeffries: "Away team, it appears there is some sort of dampening field, we cannot beam you out"
Krahazik Zaytsev begins examining the transporter system.
Mimps Masala nods "yes I had the same problem"
Hladson Kappler: even if it is a fake, it may have some components that could help
Krahazik Zaytsev begins delving deaper past the flase components to the active components.
Culama Foxclaw looks at his tricorder and notices the the signels poping up and leaving again
Hladson Kappler: ::Okay we will try to locate and disable it. I'll keep in touch
Wolfton Foulsbane: I bet there's a message for us on the bridge.
Mimps Masala shifts restlessly from foot to foot waiting for transport
Hladson Kappler: There seems to be a dampening field, let's see if we can find it

Wolfton Foulsbane: Its what I'd do. I'd leave a message for the person who sits at the Captaon's chair.
Krahazik Zaytsev yanks out some porads and rerouts wires building a makeshift signal relay using the ships own emitter array.
Hladson Kappler: lets start on the bridge then
Mimps Masala: Hlad I suggest we head for the power core and try to disable it
Hladson Kappler: keep us informed on your progress Zaytsev
Culama Foxclaw: hmm
Krahazik Zaytsev: Aye sir
Krahazik Zaytsev: I think I may be able to rig a bypass thorugh their own emitter array.
Hladson Kappler: okay, you and Culama work on that, I'll be with Mr.Foulsbane on the bridge
Culama Foxclaw: sir one of the signels has remaind more regular than the rest
Mimps Masala: Mr Foxclaw come with me lets see if we can find it
Hladson Kappler: can you locate it's source?
Culama Foxclaw: aye si
Krahazik Zaytsev thinks back to his studies on transporter field enhancers.
Hladson Kappler: okay keep in touch
CYLONXD Slade hears the long range sensor readings of the ops console, he rushes over "Er...Sir...we may have a situation"
Jaye Jeffries: *looks toward Slade "Oh Prophets, what now?"
Mimps Masala scans the core again
Krahazik Zaytsev: Lt Foxclaw, may I borrow your medical tricorder?
Hladson Kappler: any luck Wolfton?
Culama Foxclaw: sure but for what
CYLONXD Slade taps console "2 Cardassion ships coming in at high warp, ETA 20 minutes"
Wolfton Foulsbane: Well, Chief, there's certainly a message here, in that PADD, but I'm having trouble decoding it.
Krahazik Zaytsev: I need it to rig a pattern enhancer
Jaye Jeffries: *groans, tipping his head back to stare at teh ceiling of the bridge "Give the away team teh bad news Mr Slade, they now have a time limit"
Culama Foxclaw hands over a second medical scanner
Culama Foxclaw: good luck
Hladson Kappler scanns the padd
Krahazik Zaytsev takes the tricored and firmly grips it in both hands. With a grunt ripts the back cover off.
Mimps Masala repeats the scan and widens her eyes as the data appears
Hladson Kappler: I've seen this coding...
CYLONXD Slade: =A= Slade to Away Team =A=
Krahazik Zaytsev begins wireing the tricorder into the system.
Wolfton Foulsbane: I'm downloading the message to my tricorder and trying to crack it. I'm not that good at deciphering codes.
Hladson Kappler: :: Kappler here
Culama Foxclaw: maam!
CYLONXD Slade: =A= you may wish to hurry it up - there are 2 cardassion ships coming in at high warp, ETA 17 minutes =A=
Culama Foxclaw: is that what i think i see?
Krahazik Zaytsev looks over the system.
Mimps Masala: Mr Foxclaw, please tell me that is not what I think it is? * points at the tricorder*
Krahazik Zaytsev taps com badg.
Jaye Jeffries: *looks from Sukra, to Arado, to Slade "the away team have their work cut out for them. We need to find a way to delay those CArdassian vessels"
Culama Foxclaw swallows hard " sorry maam i don't think it could be anty thing els
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sit I believe I have sucessfully converted the ships field emitter array and communications ssystem into a transporter pattern enhancer.
Wolfton Foulsbane: Download is complete, Chief.
Mimps Masala taps comm badge "Masala to Relliketh, I think I have some more bad news"
Wolfton Foulsbane: Where have you seen this code before?
Unadecal Arado: "Come in Masala, What now?"
Hladson Kappler: We encountered a group of shape shifters on a Bajoran colony, I was taken captive for a couple months and replaced
Hladson Kappler: we don't want to mess with their mind games
Takira Sukra: Major, given the recent events with the Cardassian Union, any attempt to try and delay the Cardassian ships there through some form decoy or trickery will not enhance your position here nor that of Bajor
Hladson Kappler: Any luck Ensign?
Wolfton Foulsbane: Its not like anythig I've seen. Damnit, if only had my Icarus PADD!.
Krahazik Zaytsev: Ye ssir
Krahazik Zaytsev: I believe i have riged the ships own field emitters into a pattern enhancer
Jaye Jeffries: "i understand counsellor, however nor will having an away team of Bajorans and Starfleet officers on an *apparentlY* Cardassian vessel"
Jaye Jeffries: "if you some alternative suggestions, I'm certainly open to hearing them"
Hladson Kappler: we need to get out of here as quickly as we can, there are Cardassian shipps on the way
CYLONXD Slade looks over "Sir....we really don't have much time....they'll be here in 10 minutes"
Krahazik Zaytsev: There is a 85 percent chance we can safely be beamed through the array without incident
Hladson Kappler: any luck here, we've got company coming and I don't want to be here when they arive
Jaye Jeffries: "delay them! Tell them not to approach, we are stuck in a gravitational well, there's a supernova, make something up!" Jeffries feels panic begin to creep in as he strives for a solution to this precidament
Wolfton Foulsbane: And a 15 percent chance the transport could be fatal, or worse?
Takira Sukra: Any action to delay could be seen as an act of aggression against the Cardassian Union by the Cardassian. If the away team cannot uncover the truth in time, there isn't much left
Krahazik Zaytsev: We could be scattered across space, become part of the disruption field or overload the system resulting in total ship destruction
Jaye Jeffries: "and hail the away team, see if they have made any progress. Inform them of the Cardassian ETA"
Hladson Kappler: our best chance then is to disable the dampening field
CYLONXD Slade looks over to the captain "I may have some sort of a plan"
Hladson Kappler: we'll go through it as a last resourt
Jaye Jeffries: *looks with interest to Slade "I'm all ears"
Krahazik Zaytsev: I could completely shut down shipwide power whihc would dissable the energy field.
Wolfton Foulsbane: And life support?
Mimps Masala: "Relliketh...." hesitates...."Relliketh I dont think we are on a ship"
Hladson Kappler: unless it has a backup
Culama Foxclaw: sir this could be an issue
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir I could not pindown the specific system the field is tied to.
Hladson Kappler: it does feel more like a maze than a ship
Jaye Jeffries: *hears science officer Masala's voice over the comms "Not a ship? Can you clarify?"
Mimps Masala: no Hlad, look at these reading
Mimps Masala: it was well cloaked but look
Hladson Kappler looks
Culama Foxclaw showes the readins
CYLONXD Slade taps console to rbing up a tactical view of the Ship "If the team could make it to this section of the Cardassion Engineering, the damaged Warp Coil which is immiditn g high, but survivable radiation, could be used to dampen the dampening field just enough to get them out"
Krahazik Zaytsev: I have never seen an wireing or systems setup like this before.
Mimps Masala taps comm badge again "Relliketh, I think this whole thing is .....a changling"
Hladson Kappler: You've been looking at this longer than me, what's your take on it?
Hladson Kappler steps back in disgust
Jaye Jeffries: "that at least provides us with an option, send that to them Mr Slade, it may prove useful in disabling the dampening field"
Culama Foxclaw: or a group of them
Krahazik Zaytsev: changleings?
Unadecal Arado jumps in his seat "Captain! Masala reports... the whole ship is made of changeling biomatter! That's the signature I could not quite place"
CYLONXD Slade taps Combadge =A= Slade to Away Team =A=
Krahazik Zaytsev: If they were not 100 percent familyar with cardasian technology or engineering that could explain the discrempancies.
Wolfton Foulsbane: Oh, boy. We REALLY stepped in it this time.
Mimps Masala: yes, if you filter the data to take the dampening field into account, look what is left...changlings
Hladson Kappler looks worried
Krahazik Zaytsev: That would also explain why I could not pin down the dampening field to a single system.
Culama Foxclaw: yes its why the readings have been so erratic
CYLONXD Slade looks up "they're not responding sir"
Mimps Masala: it explains a lot
Hladson Kappler: so we aren't getting out until they want us to get out
Jaye Jeffries: *taps his badge, opening a channel to Foxclaw "Mr Foxclaw, could this knowledge of the ships biological properties assist the team to transport back to Relliketh?"
Krahazik Zaytsev: this could present a problem sir with my pattern enhancer setup
Hladson Kappler remember the two long months held prisoner by the changlings
Culama Foxclaw: i..im not sure sir .....im afraid my changling phisyology is a bit weak
Hladson Kappler: no body knows much about it
Mimps Masala: cant we zap them with something? *thinks of cattle prods*
Krahazik Zaytsev: that could result in them loosing their shape
Hladson Kappler: and it reverts to liquid with us floating in space?
Culama Foxclaw: ...acctually perhapes i can learn more at sustained life sign
Mimps Masala: and if they loose their shape we could be in bigger trouble
CYLONXD Slade looks up drasticly "Sir! the Cardassions are slowly moving toward us...."
Hladson Kappler: I think it's back to plan A
Culama Foxclaw walks bake to the weapons room in a hurry
Hladson Kappler: Zaytsev let's prepare to beam through the field
Krahazik Zaytsev: wrong way mr Foxclaw
Krahazik Zaytsev: um there could be a problem with that sir
Hladson Kappler: what now?
Hladson Kappler looks at the trasporter
Unadecal Arado patches into the away team's comms so that the whole crew will hear "We can't risk upsetting the current biomatter state, or it may revert to fluid form and simply regurgitate you all into space. Do not be hasty
Unadecal Arado: "
Krahazik Zaytsev: knowing what this ship is there is a chance we beam part or all of the changling biopmatter with us
Culama Foxclaw notices a point on the wall swriling slightly
Krahazik Zaytsev: The enhancers operation by boosting the sensors ability to detect biomatter and beam it all thorugh
Krahazik Zaytsev: In passing through the ship and the field we may cause some of that matter to become part of the matter stream
Hladson Kappler: okay anyone got a plan c?
Hladson Kappler: I don't want to beam in with a changeling on top of me
Culama Foxclaw thinks of what could be done to exploit this weak point...but the crew ..damn! what to do
Krahazik Zaytsev: Perhaps the biofilter could be programmed to filter out the changeling biomass
Mimps Masala pokes the shifting piece of wall and shakes her head
Unadecal Arado: "that is fine, Xaytsev, but the priority here is the safe return of the crew... the whole crew" ::thinks of one in particular::
Krahazik Zaytsev notices the wall section that is shifting
Hladson Kappler: we've got to get out now
Hladson Kappler: :: Kappler to Relliketh
Jaye Jeffries: *looks towards Slade "Raise shields, red alert. Warn the Cardassian ships not to approach, tell them...we are handling a very delicate situation involving 20 kilotons of antimatter. Just delay them as long as you can mr Slade"
Hladson Kappler: :: It seems the ship is starting to come apart. We need you to lock on to us now. We'll be using the system here to boost the signal
CYLONXD Slade ponder "CArdassion ship..."
Hladson Kappler: Culama, over here now!
Krahazik Zaytsev: Just a note, there may not be a ship to return to if we can not be materialize don the Relliketh.
Culama Foxclaw reviews the data again
Culama Foxclaw: comming sir!
Culama Foxclaw takes one last look
Hladson Kappler: :: Are you ready Major???
Mimps Masala mutters "oh it just gets better and better"
Jaye Jeffries: "beam them up when they are ready Mr Slade - all non essential power and computer processing memory to the transporters and transporter buffers"
Hladson Kappler: Where is Culama
Krahazik Zaytsev: sir!
Wolfton Foulsbane moans and collapses to the floor.
Culama Foxclaw: it appears that one is having a hard time holding its shape
Unadecal Arado: Diverting all available resources to the transporter array
Jaye Jeffries: *nods
Mimps Masala: what?
Krahazik Zaytsev: The system is active and will trigger on transport
Culama Foxclaw leans over and runs a scan
Hladson Kappler: :: Kappler to Relliketh... Energize Now!!!
CYLONXD Slade taps console

CYLONXD Slade looks at the Helms officer "now...to say it as the humans...let'shaul ass"
Krahazik Zaytsev throwes the thip to maximum warp without warning
Krahazik Zaytsev narrowly missing the deforming changeling ship my feet
Krahazik Zaytsev looks at instruments and tris to pin down out course and heading.
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir it looks as though we are not being followed.
Jaye Jeffries: "i agree completely with Mr Slade's sentiment...though I'm not entirely sure what it means." looks towards Zaytsev "Mr Zaytsev? Let's haul ass"
Unadecal Arado helps Fulsbane gently on the medical bed
Krahazik Zaytsev: Already done sir.
Krahazik Zaytsev: We are at maximum warp.
Culama Foxclaw activates a field "thank you" and goes back to work
Unadecal Arado: all yours, nurse
Jaye Jeffries: "excellent"
Krahazik Zaytsev: As a not captain, I have herd humans use that phrase before.
Krahazik Zaytsev: In shot is means to leave the area with all due haste.
Krahazik Zaytsev: Shall I change course sir?
Radar: Hladson Kappler has entered chat range.
Culama Foxclaw glars ate hladson as he passes
Hladson Kappler: Sir I've given it some thought...
Hladson Kappler: about the promotion...
Krahazik Zaytsev wonders if we will run into any one else in this uncharted area of space.
Unadecal Arado follows
Jaye Jeffries: *nods at Zaytsev's informaiton, then looks towards Kappler as he approaches
Hladson Kappler: I'm sorry to say I'm asking to resign ((In character, I'm not really going to leave the rp))
Dolamite Giffen is Online
Culama Foxclaw puts the colapsed officer into acoma
Krahazik Zaytsev: ((thats good. Does this mean I got promoted to chief engineer?))
Jaye Jeffries: "resign chief? Why would I approve such a request?"
Unadecal Arado looks up and stifles a gasp, stunned at the chief's words
Mimps Masala raises her head and follows the conversation between the captain and engineer with interest
Krahazik Zaytsev considers the chiefs words in a logic amanner and the implications.
Hladson Kappler: I've been running so hard, for so long, and I ran into another trap.
Hladson Kappler: I can't take it anymore.
Jaye Jeffries: "how long has it been since you had some serious R&R chief? And I'm not referring to our short departure on DS9"
Hladson Kappler: I spent a week and a half on Bajor with my brother and his family
Hladson Kappler: I don't have anything else in this galaxy
Culama Foxclaw looks around sensing the tension on the bridge
Mimps Masala begins preparing a report for Starfleet while listening to Hlad speak
Jaye Jeffries sighs heavily, taking the PADD with Kapplers request and then looking up at Kappler
Hladson Kappler: I could have died today...
Hladson Kappler: or worse been captured and ...
Hladson Kappler looks as if he's still in shock
Jaye Jeffries: "and what happened? You *weren't*"
Jaye Jeffries: "in the end you provided the results chief, you and the rest of the away team... as always"
Krahazik Zaytsev checks his course log and makes sure to file it away for stellar cartogrophy ot look at later.
Hladson Kappler: I gave an order that could have gotten us killed. An 85% rate of success.
Unadecal Arado sorts through the data and runs further spectral analyses on the gathered data, anxious to discern whether the changeling ship was a trap or part of a bigger plot that simply went wrong
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir we did not have any other viable options.
Hladson Kappler: sure it sounds good, but we could have been killed and it would have been on my order
Hladson Kappler turns
Culama Foxclaw: who els would we turst with such an order?
Hladson Kappler: I'm just not sure why I'm doing this anymore
Jaye Jeffries gestures with his arms, palms outward "sure you could have chief, it's the burden of command, and I think you have handled it in the best way possible"
Jaye Jeffries: "no lives lost, diplomatic situation essentially intact"
Mimps Masala watches Una sort the data and listens sympathetically to Hlad
Krahazik Zaytsev: The Cardasians appeard to have been to busy worying about the disolving freightor and our abrupt departure to give chase.
Hladson Kappler: I need some time to think sir...
Jaye Jeffries: "that is why I offer you the seat on my right, and a red uniform - you have already shown your capability in many varying situations"
Hladson Kappler: I can handle a warp coil breaking down
Hladson Kappler: I can crawl through a Jeffries tube to reconnect a blown conduate
Hladson Kappler: I'm just not sure I can be what you want me to be.
Mimps Masala whispers to her fellow science officer "I understand what he is saying, being responsible for an away team is a bit different to being responsible for a warp core"
Jaye Jeffries: *glances at the padd "I'm not going to process this until morning, in the mean time - I think you should reconsider"
Hladson Kappler: I'll give it the night before making it official.
Jaye Jeffries: *nods
Krahazik Zaytsev glances down as a red indicator lights up.
Hladson Kappler: If I may be excused I need to lie down and think this through
Jaye Jeffries: "of course chief"
Hladson Kappler heads to his quarters to mull this over
Unadecal Arado looks and whispers back "yes, but how many times have our lives been in his hands when we went nearly critical, or needed all available resources to get out of a sticky situation? He's saved our asses more times than I can count and as Chief Engineer his responsibility is great"
Krahazik Zaytsev takes note of the sudden silence as the warp core goes off line.
Krahazik Zaytsev the ship comes to a slow drift.
Mimps Masala nods and whispers "I agree, I'd trust him with my life any time"
Krahazik Zaytsev: Captain, the warp core has gone offline.
Culama Foxclaw: major..if i may
Jaye Jeffries: "so bring it *on* line?"
Krahazik Zaytsev: System overload. NOthing serious but the core will need to cool down before it can be restarted.
Krahazik Zaytsev: There is a nearby class M planet I can slide us into orbit over.
Jaye Jeffries: *nods to zaytsev, and turns to Foxclaw
Culama Foxclaw: a report from sick bay mr foulsbane has been put in a medically induced coma
Krahazik Zaytsev slides the ship into orbit over the unknown planet under impulse power.
Culama Foxclaw: he passed out and i can not figure out why
Krahazik Zaytsev runs a check of the warp core and warp drive system.
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir this system is not on any of our starcharts.
Culama Foxclaw: i only wish that the doctor was here she would know more
Krahazik Zaytsev forwards navigation data from our trip to the science station.
Krahazik Zaytsev checks that our orbit is stable then gets up.
Jaye Jeffries: *raises an eyebrow "I have complete confidence in your abilities Mr Foxclaw, perhaps this will be a good test of them?"
Krahazik Zaytsev: Sir it could be several days before we can return to Deap Space 9.
Culama Foxclaw sighs and tries to smile "i will do what i can"
Jaye Jeffries: "in fact that comes as good news - then I need not submit this request of chief Kapplers for those remaining days"
Krahazik Zaytsev: It would take several days for the trasnmission to reach the worm hole relay any way sir.
Mimps Masala grins as she hears the word from the major
Krahazik Zaytsev: We have traveled beyond known space at this point sir as we were moving away from the wormhole.
Jaye Jeffries: "monitor the situation Mr Zaytsev, inform me if our situation becomes dire"
Krahazik Zaytsev: Understood sir.
Jaye Jeffries: "in point of fact 'beyond known space' does not sound entirely like a favourable situation to me"
Krahazik Zaytsev: At this point, unless osmehting occures to upset our situation, we are stable.
Jaye Jeffries nods
Krahazik Zaytsev: I have forwarded all nav data to the science station.
Culama Foxclaw: i will return to sick bay
Mimps Masala looks at the data flowing across her screen "Mr Arado we have enough here to keep us busy for days"
Krahazik Zaytsev: We are the first ship to travel this far galactic south of the worm hole.
Unadecal Arado: when does something to upset our situation ever NOT occur?
Jaye Jeffries: "this may provide us with a unique situation, perhaps we should have our science team on full alert"
Mimps Masala: aye sir, we could use all the help that is available
Unadecal Arado: yes we do, perhaps we'll find out what the changelings are up to
Krahazik Zaytsev: We are in an unknown, not yet explored system orbiting an uncharted planet.
Mimps Masala smiles "just how I like it"
Jaye Jeffries: *decides to take the opportunity to go through some mission logs, and to monitor readings from the science station of surrounding space
Unadecal Arado smiles back and nods
Krahazik Zaytsev: We are not, lost as humans might put it as we have the sensor data and can return home at any time we desire once the warp core has cooled and can be restarted.
Mimps Masala: right Mr Arado, lets start by cataloging those stars then analysing each for atmosphere and mineral content
Jaye Jeffries: *almost thinks he detects anxiety in the vulcan hybrids voice
Culama Foxclaw prepares a letter home "dar ganmother at the time we get back to DS9 i hope to take some leave and make my way hometo Dakara i hope to be there soon but don't tell mom and dad i want to surprise them. Dr. Foxclaw
Unadecal Arado: I will begin the astrometric scans. I always found astronomy quite a relaxing activity
Culama Foxclaw takes time to look over medical logs
Krahazik Zaytsev: Masala, may I get your picture for your crew file.
Mimps Masala: aye you may
Jaye Jeffries: *taps on his chair console, flicking through the astrometric data the science officers sent through for general information
Mimps Masala settles comfortably at the science station, smiling and humming a little tune as she begins processing data
Krahazik Zaytsev: ok done thank oyu
Krahazik Zaytsev: Mr Arado
Mimps Masala: thank you
Jaye Jeffries: *notes some interesting phenomena in this part of space, and makes a note of them

Star Trek Premiere

Hello crew!

An inspiring night for me - I just returned from the premiere launch of Star Trek, held at the Sydney Opera House. I managed to get a peek of some of the cast of the latest Star Trek movie, and to soak up some of the excitement. Let's hope that it will live up to the hype, I'm sure I'm not the only one concerned that the original Star Trek is being recreated but I personally plan to watch the movie with an open mind, and to avoid comparing it to any previous Star Trek movie that I have seen (hard as that may be!).

**Edit 09/04/09** Can you believe I spelt Opera - Oprah? Perhaps I've been spending too much time at home with the TV on at midday, time to end my unemployment!

Chatlog 14th February 2009

Hladson Kappler (Chief engineer)
Erik Kingston (Engineer) played by Talon Lardner
Jerred (Junior Engineer) played by Jaye Jeffries
Ms McLeod (Science officer) played by Culama Foxclaw

Jaye Jeffries: RP BEGIN
Erik Kingston: Need any help, sirs?
Hladson Kappler: we can use all the help we can get Ensign
Hladson Kappler: Here's what we know so far about this computer core
Ms. McLeod: science officer Mcleod reporting as ordered sir
Erik Kingston looks around a bit nervously, himself rather new on this ship, having been assinged just Jerred taps on the lcars panel, assessing entry pathways to the datacore
Jerred:
Hladson Kappler: it was taken from a Federation shuttle craft. We can only assume that it was shot down by the Romulans.
Erik Kingston looks over the readouts curiously, running a finger over the panel, not quite familiar with the display format.
Hladson Kappler: It contains all their research on time displacement.
Culama Foxclaw: oo sounds fun i do love logic puzzels
Erik Kingston: I can see that, sir... but we still need to extract the data... and how do I know we haven't already corrupted it?
Hladson Kappler: The program files have many firewalls and security lockouts.
Ms. McLeod takes a place at a station and dives into work
Hladson Kappler: Luckily we met a Ferengi who was able to work around them.
Jerred: Ferengi??
Culama Foxclaw: hmm did he give us any of the data inside
Hladson Kappler: yes, and with it we figured out how to use it...well we accidentally activated it and figured out what happened later.
Erik Kingston: They're there for a reason, you know.. And are we sure that the data's even intact?
Erik Kingston sighs a little as he glances down at the display, punching in a few figures
Hladson Kappler tossis Kingston a padd
Hladson Kappler: that's what we got from the Ferengi. I see no corruption in the files compared to what he gave us.
Ms. McLeod taps happily over the panel
Hladson Kappler: So team, what we need is this...
Jerred continues to assess possible alternate access pathways into the core memory
Hladson Kappler: We need to unlock the rest of the files without setting off any more traps
Jerred: Hmm, that might be difficult sir - these coding algorythms are complex
Hladson Kappler: See if there is a connection with the Romulan Portal
Erik Kingston shrugs a little as he looks at the padd, then at the readouts. "Hash checks look fine... Why don't we start with finding information that we already know?"
Mc McLeod: sir the science logs also show that we brought on a device of some kind
Ms. McLeod: what of that?
Hladson Kappler: Yes, let's check the scanns against the romulan portal.
Erik Kingston glares at the cheif in frustration that she took her idea over his.
Ms. McLeod: on it sir
Erik Kingston: Sir... that'll be just a dead end
Hladson Kappler: You can see the future Ensign?
Ms. McLeod: mr. erickson any path not travel is a dead end
Erik Kingston: we shouldn't care WHAT the files contain, but we should look at the files themselves
Hladson Kappler: let's follow this though, and keep working until we have the solution
Erik Kingston looks back down in frustration, griping the console a bit in order to control his temper
Jerred concentrates on his console
Ms. McLeod: sir im going to see if the portal shows any reactions as we accese the files
Hladson Kappler: Ensign Kingston, in your opinion, is there any programming similar to this in the Federation?
Erik Kingston: It's hard to tell with all this encryption... but it is Federation encryption
Erik Kingston: Whoever encrypted and locked this core down, did it by the book... and that's why we are having so much trouble
Hladson Kappler: and Mr. Jerred, cross reference what we have on Romulan technology.
Jerred: Aye sir
Hladson Kappler: we have to be missing something here. Some sort of key to the algorithms
Ms. McLeod taps comm
Erik Kingston shakes his head. "We should cross-reference with file formats of various Romulan, Klingon, and Federation Databases, not meaningess info. You're looking too deep at this."
Hladson Kappler: Go Ahead Ms. McLeod
Erik Kingston: don't READ the info, just look at the information as a unit.
Hladson Kappler looks at Ensign Kingson
Jerred: Hmmm, there are some interesting decoding algorythms created my a Lt Cmdr Data, sir
Erik Kingston looks up to the Bajoran officer in frustration. "Are we here to break this encryption, or imagining its contents?"
Jerred: Perhaps we could try running one of these
Ms. McLeod: sir i am picking up minor fluctuations on the sub atomic level that are incosistant with the colaps of the chroniton field
Erik Kingston: I agree with Jerred. We should be looking at file structure. This is perfect.
Jerred sighs in exasperation at the humans lack of patience
Hladson Kappler: I'll be right back you two keep working on this, and try that idea of yours Jerred
Jerred: Aye sir
Hladson Kappler: What have you got here?
Culama Foxclaw: at the moment i cant see any particular pattern but it IS something
Ms. McLeod sighs
Jerred engages the decoding algorythm "This might take some time "
Ms. McLeod looks to panel "wow"
Hladson Kappler: but you don't think it's related to it weakening?
Jerred looks towards the Starfleet officer "What do you think could be on here?"
Erik Kingston: That's good, though.. let's dethread this like a string. One layer at a time... and only read the data AFTER it is decrypted and in context."
Ms McLeod: no definetly not
Ms. McLeod: but i did just get a bigger blip
Erik Kingston peers curilously over Jerred's sholder. "Well, it's hard to tell out of context, but it looks like basic telemetary logs."
Hladson Kappler: But the emissions have been steadily declining. What do you suppose is happening?
Ms. McLeod: im not certin sir but it may be connecteded to the core
Jerred: Why would simple telematary logs be encrypted with a military grade, Romulan coding algorythm?
Erik Kingston leans in to whisper into Jerred's ear. "Why are they worrying about meaninglyess emissions? That has nothing to do with the core."
Jerred shrugs "Maybe they're connected somehow?"
Erik Kingston: Because the captain saw fit to. We can't let ourselves imagine why he encrypted something, but only know that he did.
Ms. McLeod: sir this is just a thought but perhaps some how the core is a form of controle
Hladson Kappler: I wonder...
Hladson Kappler: keep at it I'll be back in a minute
Erik Kingston looks with frustration at his panel, relaying a few more file table analysis to Jerred. "I don't know how I'm going to last here... with the Chief chasing ghosts..."
Ms. McLeod rubs fore head
Erik Kingston makes sure to shut up as he hears the Cheif approach
Hladson Kappler clears his throat
Jerred concentrates on the decoding algorythm which is now running its course
Hladson Kappler: Do you have a problem with being thorough Ensign?
Erik Kingston: Sir, we are meaking a bit of headway with the file structure. After cross-examining it with an unencrypted file structure of a similar shuttle, we have segmented the data into more meaningful chunks.
Hladson Kappler: If I say to take it apart atom by atom, I expect you to do so
Erik Kingston nods politely. "When it comes at the expense of solid scientific judgement, yes. I didn't spend four years at teh academy to chase random links to random objects."
Ms. McLeod wals about making scans
Hladson Kappler: Right now there is more at stake than your time at the academy. Our entire timeline will wiped away unless we can unlock the entire puzzle here
Erik Kingston looks down at his console, focusing again on his studies of the data, focusing on objective reasoning.
Hladson Kappler: ...puzzle...
Jerred: Sorry to interrupt...Sir, the algorythm is decrypting the information in small chunks as Kingston mentioned
Erik Kingston: I understand, sir, hence why we can't spend time looking at hte probe, but at the data core.
Hladson Kappler: wait...
Jerred Scratches his head
Hladson Kappler: what unlocked the core the first time? Chronitons from the singularity.
Hladson Kappler: what is keeping us from being detected from the borg? The chroniton field generated by the portal
Erik Kingston: Chronitons cause havok on data banks like these, it's a miracle the thing wasn't corrupted, but only flipped a few key bits.
Hladson Kappler: what if it isn't a miracle, but design
Jerred: Perhaps something to do with the Romaulan tech alterations to the core?
Ms. McLeod taps comm "sir
Hladson Kappler: what if it takes a chroniton field to unlock it
Erik Kingston: So we just sit here and wait for the probe to deem us worthy to read the contents?
Hladson Kappler: \\Kappler here, go ahead
Erik Kingston: Unlike you, I prefer to put fate in my own hands.
Hladson Kappler: what have you got?
Erik Kingston shakes his head adn gets to work on trying more decryption and analysis routines, working on helping sort data into different types, telementary, image, audio, information, moving things around when more about the file is learned
Ms Mcleod: sir if we try to accese the core with an intensified chroniton burst i think some thing interesting might happen^^
Hladson Kappler: and what might that be?
Ms. McLeod: hmm that is the question isnt it?
Ms. McLeod: but i cant be certin of what will happen
Erik Kingston sighs in frustration, typing in a few commands again. "Hey Jerrad? How long have you been here?"
Jerred taps the LCARS, watching as some basic file structure information is revealed by the algorythm - but not the actual core information itself
Hladson Kappler: let's talk this through before doing anything rash.
Hladson Kappler: follow me to the lab
Culama Foxclaw: aye
Jerred: Since the ship left spacedock
Ms. McLeod: hello all how goes the scans
Hladson Kappler: okay, what's your status here?
Erik Kingston: I'm noticing a lot of Romulan programming calls, Sir. What they are calling is still encrypted, but this implies that the Romulans had direct contact with the ship's computer.
Ms. McLeod gasps
Erik Kingston: Or it's a dump of the probe's programming.... it's hard to tell without context
Jerred: The Chronitons?
Ms. McLeod: sir what if the romulans used the core to controle the portal with out the threat of damaging there oun computer
Hladson Kappler: that would make some sense
Hladson Kappler: the shuttle was crashed on the planet long enough
Hladson Kappler: but why leave it on the planet.
Ms. McLeod is struck with a hypothesis
Erik Kingston smiles as he gets an idea. "Using it like a sandbox of sorts... I like that idea. We again cannot assume the shuttle was always under federation control... and I'm starting to wonder if the operator of the shuttle encrypted this not to hide the data.... but his guilt?
Hladson Kappler: guilt?
You can't attach multiple objects to one spot.
Ms. McLeod: the core takes us back the portal took us forward
Ms. McLeod: thus the core and the portal should take use back as well
Erik Kingston thinks a little, then shakes his head. "Nevermind, I was getting carried away, I can't assume... nor should any of us. For now, we shouldn't even assume that this data core is telling the truth
Hladson Kappler looks over what has been decoded so far
Erik Kingston: Let's just look at raw facts.
Hladson Kappler: okay, lay them out for us
Ms. McLeod: of course its lieing!
Erik Kingston: . Fact. This data core was found in a shuttle. Fact. It has Federation and Romulan encryption and programming inside.
Erik Kingston: Fact. Lt. Data's decryption routines were found inside.
Hladson Kappler is beginning to see where this is headed
Ms. McLeod runs to the portal "excuse me i'll listen over the comms
Erik Kingston: Anything else is only thoery
Ms McLeod: of course because science is theory
Erik Kingston smirks. "And Engineering is applied fact."
Hladson Kappler: I am beginning to think that whatever is going on is bigger than the Federation or Romulan programing
Jerred listens intently
Ms. McLeod: sir this has to be because if it is what i think it is then...
Hladson Kappler: What we have here is evidence that the Romulans and Federation were working on the same project. Whether intentionally or covertly
Ms. McLeod: well it would be hugh
Erik Kingston looks up to the cheif in curiosity. "That's what I'm talking about. Remove assumptions, look at the facts."
Erik Kingston: For good, for bad, we don't know. All we know is that we got a data core, a funky probe, and a half-rusted space shuttle.
Jerred mumbles "And a big arsed Borg ship swallowing the Relliketh"
Hladson Kappler: here's a thought
Jerred: Why don't we throw some chronitons at the core as ms McLeod suggested, we could start with extremely small amounts to carefully monitor the feedback
Hladson Kappler: we have been hitting our heads against what we think is an unbreakable algorithm
Erik Kingston looks up to Jerred in worry. "A copy of the core. Not to our original."
Ms. McLeod: thats because its not an encryption
Ms. McLeod: SIR DONT
Hladson Kappler: what if it is programming we have never seen before.
Hladson Kappler: what if that is what the Federation and the Romulans were doing on that forsaken world
Jerred Me looks curious, not having considered that they weren't tackling an encryption barrier
Hladson Kappler: trying to crack some alien or future technology
Ms. McLeod RUNS IN PANTING " sir dont do it yet
Erik Kingston nods politely. "Makes senseto me... Encryption and language share many common ties."
Jerred: Language? So then....
Hladson Kappler: what is it McLeod?
Ms. McLeod: i could give a whole symposium on temporal mechanics but
Erik Kingston: There is no reason this couldn't have been a Trio effort. Feds, Romulans, and someone else.
Ms. McLeod: the short is that i belive that to be the time code
Hladson Kappler: And what do we do with this time code?
Erik Kingston looks over to her in confusion. "Time Code? that doesn't make any sense... that's a LOT of data being assigned to that.
Erik Kingston: Sir... we don't KNOW it is time code. We THINK it is, well, YOU think it is, but we don't know for sure.
Jerred: Is there some way we could test it?
Ms. McLeod: its an old temporal mechanics theory that if the right set of random encryptions could make time travel posible
Hladson Kappler: hmmm
Erik Kingston thinks a little... "We could work on a copy of the database, so that we don't risk changing this one. "
Ms. McLeod: you said the data is mostly telemetry right?
Hladson Kappler: well it would be easy to replicate with all the scans we have...
Erik Kingston nods politely. "Most of ANY shuttle database is telementary."
Ms. McLeod: but ... this is likely to code for a certin place that we now inhabit
Hladson Kappler: so this is just the code or map, how did we get thrown into the past?
Hladson Kappler: ...
Ms. McLeod: because it was ment to send us ..or rather the piolets there
Jerred: Could we have tripped an activation mechanism? Perhaps it signaled a persent version of that ROmulan device?
Hladson Kappler: All this time we have been looking at two pieces of this puzzle and overlooking a third
Hladson Kappler: we have been ignoring the shuttle
Jerred: The shuttle? Right... we still don't know who was piloting it or why...
Ms. McLeod: and we went to this time when only the portal was used
Hladson Kappler: let's head to the hangar bay and take a closer look at the shuttle
Jerred: Aye
Erik Kingston smiles brightly. "Exactly. We can't even assume anything about the shuttle. We can't assume it is normal. We can't assume that it is even stock until we inspect it
Ms. McLeod pulls mr ericson to the side
Erik Kingston sighs a little and closes his eyes. "Look... I'm sorry... I just get so frustrated..."

Erik Kingston: Allright, folks, let's list our facts... we got here a shuttle, looks fFederation in origin, and it's corroded and rather beat up. Let's not assume anything else until we look at it objectively
Jerred looks towards the chief "Now what sir?"
Jerred scans the shuttle with his tricorder
Hladson Kappler: Okay Ensign Kingston. We know Federation Shuttles are made of Tritanium.
Hladson Kappler: Tritanium doesn't rust.
Erik Kingston nods politely. "Therefore, we cannot trust this to be fully federation in origin.
Erik Kingston: Only that it looks like a federation shuttle.
Jerred: Hmmmm.... sir? how do we know Tritanium doesn't rust?
Jerred: To our *knowledge* it doesn't rust - perhaps there are other factors involved here
Ms. McLeod: actually it does
Erik Kingston thinks a little... "Well... it doesn't for a very long time...."
Hladson Kappler: Tritanium doesn't rust in normal atmospheric or stellar environments
Ms. McLeod: a very very long time
Jerred: We're talking about a very odd situation - we don't know if this shuttle may have been thrown back in time billions of years
Erik Kingston: Notice the lack of ANY paint on this hull. No numbers, no ID
Jerred: By the PRophets - it could have been thrown back to the beginning of the universe?
Erik Kingston Not even a gloss coating
Ms. McLeod crawls around on the top
Erik Kingston: How does the interior look? Has any rubber decayed? Have any plastics become poc-marked?
Hladson Kappler: and we never got confirmation from the Federation of any shuttles missing
Hladson Kappler looks at the nacelle
Ms. McLeod falls through
Hladson Kappler: are you alright?
Erik Kingston nods politely. "Am I correct in assuming that this Nacelle is sufficiently decayed to the point that it will no longer run?"
Ms. McLeod: yes.. but this shuttle isnt
Jerred: It looks out of commissionto me
Hladson Kappler scans the nacelles
Ms. McLeod brushes rust off
Erik Kingston nods politely. "That doesn't happen overnight."
Hladson Kappler: normally no.
Ms. McLeod: sir what if they knew that the core and shuttle were going to be left behind
Hladson Kappler: copper takes decades of humid weather to oxidize
Hladson Kappler: but you can oxidize it overnight with acid
Erik Kingston: I've seen shuttles be out of service for 50 years and their nacelles still held a charge.
Jerred scans the nacelles thoroughly with his tricorder "No energy readings whatsoever"
Hladson Kappler: I got the same readings
Ms. McLeod: hmm that would explain... why the portal sent us back to the present
Jerred: So the shuttle was thrown back by accident?
Ms. McLeod: with out the core and shuttle to guied it it becomes a fixed portal
Hladson Kappler pulls open an access panel on one of the nacelles
Erik Kingston: IT was thrown back. Accident or not is irrelivent
Jerred: Perhaps an instability in the computer core, triggered in much the same way that we triggered it accidentally
Hladson Kappler: Ensign Kingston, take a look at this
Jerred: Hmmm it might be relevant...
Erik Kingston blinks in suprise, peering over the chief's sholder
Hladson Kappler: You are more familiar with Federation technology
Hladson Kappler: Does this look like a standard nacelle configuration to you?
Hladson Kappler: I'm beginning to think your first statemnt that we can't be sure this is a Federation shuttle may be the right assumption
Erik Kingston shook his head. "No sir... that looks like something that was jerry-rigged with some non-federation technology... looks like it was to get manual control over a lot of the nacelle's functions

Hladson Kappler: look how the systems have been cross wired. It is all a mess in here
Jerred: Who would have done this?
Ms. McLeod: so could this be a time machine and not a shuttel at all
Hladson Kappler: that is quite likely
Hladson Kappler: this is what sent us into the past
Erik Kingston smiles. "Well... it could be a time machine made to look like a shuttle. Federation scanners are lazy, if you get a fed data core pumping out a valid hull ID, Federation computers will be more than happy to think that it is a shuttle, and let them fly at will
Hladson Kappler: the core is the map and chronitons are the key
Ms. McLeod: thats it!
Hladson Kappler: I think the romulan portals are related, but not a part of this puzzle
Ms. McLeod: the portal was a way to get back!
Ms. McLeod: once they were finished in the past
Erik Kingston: I did it myself once as a senior thesis... I took an old Oberth class ship's computer, and made it think it was a Soverign class ship... and therefore make everything else think it was one down to the viewscreen rendering it as a Soverign class until they made a non-standard scan."
Hladson Kappler enters scans into his padd
Erik Kingston: well... not the time... travel... thing
Hladson Kappler does calculations on his padd
Ms. McLeod: what if we use the reverse of the computer code
Ms. McLeod: that should take us to the point that they were leaving
Hladson Kappler: We should be able to return to the past again
Ms. McLeod: then stop them and use the portal to get back!
Hladson Kappler: aye
Hladson Kappler: I think we have all the readings to send the Relliketh out of this forsaken timeline.
Jerred feels anticipation
Ms. McLeod: do we know who made the changes thought
Hladson Kappler: Let's run a couple simulations and contact the Major.
Hladson Kappler: I think we have our way home

Hladson Kappler: ::after several simulations their theory is proved correct::
Jerred: Shall we start the procedure now sir?
Hladson Kappler: yes, you and Ensign Kingston reconnect the core to the Relliketh's systems like it was on our first trip
Erik Kingston: Aye sir
Jerred: Aye sir
Ms. McLeod: sir should i see if i can slow the dissapation of the portal?
Hladson Kappler: yes, try your best
Hladson Kappler: we may need it to return home
Ms. McLeod: i'll need to use the transportes
Erik Kingston: Allright, just simply plug it in... I hope
Ms. McLeod: at least the main ones
Erik Kingston: I was sort of... working on fixing some of the crew's quarters when we first used this thing
Hladson Kappler: We are going to need a burst of Chronitons from the portal to activate the core. Do you think you can find a way to channel all the Chronitons in a controlled beam?
Ms. McLeod: yes
Hladson Kappler: alright let's do this
Hladson Kappler: all set here
Jerred: Sir! Part of Relliketh was assimilated with Borg tech - it appears to be some autoreplicating virus, but it was isolated and removed before causing sever damage
Ms. McLeod moves the portal to the transport pad "all set here"
Jerred: We better hurry... before another tech incursion is attempted
Hladson Kappler: \\Kappler to the Bridge we are all set here. We will engage the time drive on your mark.
Hladson Kappler waits for the Major's order.
Jaye Jeffries: \\Do it chief - we've already lost our crew lounge, we don't need to tempt fate
Jaye Jeffries: \\and...good work engineering and science team!
Hladson Kappler: Engage now!
Ms. McLeod: initiating chroniton burst
Jerred monitors power levels
Jaye Jeffries: **Ship shakes slightly**
Ms. McLeod the transport pad spaks in protest to its irregular use
Erik Kingston: Easy... easy...
Jaye Jeffries: \\Engineering, status?
Hladson Kappler checks the ships chronometer
Hladson Kappler: \\Sir we are back in the year 1996.
Hladson Kappler: Great work everyone.
Ms. McLeod: sir
Hladson Kappler: It looks like we arrived a week before ourselves...
Hladson Kappler: time travel can be a bit tricky, but we can use the extra time
Ms. McLeod: i-i had to fix one of the pads when it was damaged by the burst...
Hladson Kappler: we have our work cut out for us to repair the ship from the Borg and the Temporal damage.
Hladson Kappler knows the ship will be ship shape in no time at all
Jerred: nods, assessing the damage done to level 2
Erik Kingston: Looks like I got my work cut out for me... but that's what I am here for
Hladson Kappler: END RP
